SPECIFICATIONS

General

General Protection: If unreasonable operating conditions occur the protection circuitry limits the drive level to protect the output transistor stages, particularly inthe case of elevated temperature. Transformer overheating will result in a temporary shutdown of that particular channel. Controlled slew-rate voltage amplifiers protect the unit against RF burnouts. Input overload protection is furnished at the amplifier input to limit current.

DC Output Offset: (Shorted input) less than ±10 millivolts.

Hum and Noise: At 26 dB gain with 8 ohm load: 105 dB (A-weighted) below rated continuous average 20 Hz to 20 kHz output; 100 dB (20 Hz to 20 kHz) below same rated output.

Phase Response: ±10 degrees 10 Hz to 20 kHz at 1 watt.

Input Impedance: Nominally 20 K ohms, balanced. Nominally 10 K ohms, unbalanced.

Input Sensitivity: (Unbalanced) switchable between 0.775 V at 8/4 ohm or 0.775 V at 70 V or a voltage gain of 26 dB.

Low Voltage Power Supply: ±15 VDC supplies are provided by a fanformer (an added winding on the fan motor), regulated by three terminal regulators.

Power Requirements: 60 Hz, 120 VAC. Draws 60 watts or less at idle. At a continuous 1 kHz sinewave output of 42 watts (1/3 power) into 4 ohms (both channels driven), as many as 4.66 amps are drawn from the 120 VAC source. Similarly, at 125 watts (full power), as many as 7.23 amps are drawn from the 120 VAC source. The unit is rated to draw 3.5 amps at full power for a typical music signal when
both channels are driven into a 4 ohm load. It is extremely important to have adequate AC power available to the amplifier. Power amplifiers can not create energy—they must have the required voltage and current to deliver the undistorted rated wattages you expect. The CT-200 has a 15 -amp line cord in anticipation that it will be used with a 15-amp mains circuit.

Turn On: No dangerous transients. Pour second turn-on delay. Note: This may be changed by resistor substitution. Contact Crown Technical Services Department for details.

Front Panel Controls: Two-position Enable (on/off) rocker power switch.

Rear Panel Controls: Channel 1 and 2 input Level controls and Mode Select switches (8/4-OHM and 70-VOLT). Dual-Mono switch (DUAL, BRIDGE-MONO, and PARALLEL-MONO).

Internal Controls: Sensitivity switch (0.775 V for full output or a 26 dB voltage gain).

Displays

Enable: This amber indicator is on while the amplifier is on to show that the low-voltage power supply is operating.

ODEP: Two green multifunction indicators which show the reserve energy status of each channel. Normally they are brightly illuminated to show that reserve energy is available. In the rare event there is no energy reserve, they will dim in proportion to ODEP limiting. If a tripped breaker or temporary thermal shutdown occurs, the ODEP indicators will stay off. (In the case of a thermal shutdown, the amplifier will return to normal operation after cooling down to a safe operating temperature.)

IOC: Two yellow indicators which are normally off. In the unlikely event the output waveform differs from that of the input by 0.05% ormore, they will flash. In this way, they act as sensitive distortion indicators to provide proof of performance. Note: It is normal for the Channel 2 IOC indicator to remain on in PARALLEL-MONO mode.

SPI: Two green indicators which flash synchronously with the input waveform to indicate signal presence.

Connectors

Inputs: Balanced three-terminal barrier blocks on standard P.I.P. module.

Outputs: Four-terminal barrier block on rear panel. P.I.P.: Standard internal P.I.P. connector is accessable through rear panel to provide Plug-In Panel compatibility. AC Line: Three-wire male connector attached to a minimum cable length of 5 feet.

Dimensions: 19 inch (48.3 cm) standard rack mount width (EIA Std. RS-310-B), 3.5 inch (8.9 cm) height, 16 inch (40.6 cm) depth behind mounting surface, 0.25 inch (0.6 cm) depth in front of mounting surface.

Weight: 29pounds, 6.5ounces(13.3kg). Center of gravity is approximately 6 inches (15 cm) behind the front panel.

Finish: Black splattered-coat steel chassis and front panel with Lexan overlay.

Construction: Steel chassis, specially designed "flow-through" ventilation from front to side panels.

Heat Sinking: Internal heat diffusers with optional fan for forced-air cooling.
